Dr. Mengling Qiao is currently a postdoctoral research scientist in the Columbia Water Center, Department of Earth and Environmental Engineering, Columbia University. Before joining Columbia, she worked as a postdoctoral fellow in The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). She obtained her Ph.D. in The State Key Laboratory of Information Engineering in Surveying, Mapping and Remote Sensing (LIESMARS) in Wuhan University. Her research interests include Disaster Planning, Human Mobility, Urban Geography, GeoHealth, and Computational Social Science. Currently, she is currently focusing on modeling the mobility patterns of human mobility in disaster events, and sensing the sentiment changes of general population in the post-pandemic era.
