Public and Private Water Utility Rates Study

Nelson E. Dove

Water meter cover

Expanding on previous research done by the Aquanauts on public water utilities, this project incorporates private water utility survey data into the national water rates analysis to determine the significance that multiple variables (operating expenses, debt, water source, utility size, population, and climate) have on the utilities’ rates. These variables will then be used to formulate a working model for estimating water rates. Also, additional research will be directed to the utilities’ rates connection to climatic events such as droughts.
