Adam Schempp, Senior Attorney, leads the Environmental Law Institute’s work on water rights, allocation, and use and works extensively on water quality issues in the U.S. Much of his research focuses on identifying opportunities to meet sustainability objectives through existing laws and potential legal developments. He also organizes and facilitates convenings of water professionals to improve communication, cooperation, and problem solving across states, tribes, territories, the federal government, and stakeholders. He has a B.A. in Ethics, Politics, and Economics from Yale University and a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.
