Arsenic Testing in U.S. Water Utilities

This project seeks to apply various research methodologies to understand the causal factors of compliance and non-compliance by United States water utilities in arsenic testing. In addition, this project aims to develop a series of practical remedies to expand the range of compliance under differing situations. The project scope is to: 1) Develop surveys for utility providers based off their compliance to arsenic levels and utility size; 2) Identify reasons for non-compliance whether it be technology-based, funding, socio-economic factors, etc., 3) Identify successful compliance strategy components and determine feasibility of replication under different conditions, and 4) Determine whether a template or series of templates (depending on relevant factors) could be developed to guide non-compliant utilities toward a path of compliance.
